Propose and evaluate 3 strategies that could limit or enhance future technological advances.
2.) To limit any future technological advances in the sport of gymnastics, the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) could make a stop to any new technologies being introduces into the competition side of the sport. Technology in gymnastics has come far enough and their is no need for it to develop much more. The FIG can ensure that the sport continues to be fair and enjoyable for all athletes, coaches and supporters of the sport by limiting anymore future developments.
3.) Another future technological development/strategy in the sport of gymnastics that could advance the sport in many ways by brining in GoPro's into competitive gymnastics (at competitions) to get an look at the gymnast performance from their point of view. By using GoPro's, spectators and fans of the sport could get a close look to what it is actually like to perform their favourite gymnast routine or skills. Also, using GoPros could help gymnast with training because they can use the footage from the GoPro camera to help them analyse their routines/skills. |
1.) A future development/strategy that could enhance future advances in the sport of gymnastics could be inbuilt sensors into the apparatuses to help assist with judging. For example, sensors could be built into the gymnastics floor to help detect if a gymnast lands out of bounds (over the white line, usually there is a judge on each end of the floor who will raise a flag in the air if a gymnast lands out of bounds. Sensors could be built into the ground to detect if a gymnast lands out of bounds so that we can get a quicker, more accurate result. Sensors could be used on the other apparatuses such as the vault by using seniors in the vaulting table to detect how long the gymnast hands are placed on the vaulting table for.
