Apparatuses
Women's artistic gymnastics consist of four apparatuses in which are trained daily and competed at competitions for various levels. The balance beam, uneven bars, floor exercise and the vault are the four events for the women's side of Artistic Gymnastics.
C.) Does the technology significantly help improve the sport in terms of performance, safety etc. Or is it just a fad?The technology used in the floor exercise does significantly help improve both safety and performance level for athletes when competing and training this particular apparatus. The floor enhances the gymnast safety by providing them with a soft, foamy surface that is easy to land on and it provides athletes with maximum safety if needed for a bad landing or fall.
The floor also enhances the performances that gymnast produces as the springs in the floor allow the gymnast to get the most spring and hight possible to successfully perform extremely difficult and skilful moves. D.) Has the technology spread to other parts of the world through sport (i.e. is it used all over the world, in Australia only etc.)?The floor exercise and all of the technology involved in creating the floor is used all over the world by gymnast everyday. The floor is used at every single local, state, national and international competition as well as at every gymnasium in which gymnast train at.
E.) Give 1 example of when the technology is used (e.g. in training, recovery, competition, officiating etc.)?The technology that is used in the floor exercise is used at any kind of Artistic Gymnastics event such as Olympic Games, World Championships, National Championships and State Championships competitions. The gymnast also use the technology in the apparatus whilst training.

A.) How does the technology work?On the Floor Exercise, the floor is made up of several technologies that have been developed over the years to provide maximum safety and high performances. A regular competition floor is made up of a combination of springs, plywood and rubber foam to make the floor bouncy. The softness of the floor has been developed to ensure the safety of the gymnast is impeccable. The floor has also been developed so that skills are also less stressful on the gymnast joints and it helps achieve vertical heights.
B.) Where was this technology discover/invented?The Greeks invented the floor that is used by gymnast when training or competing the floor exercise. The floor was originally invented to train the Greek military around 2000 years ago.
F.) Give 1 example of groups that have access to the technology (based on affordability, availability, etc.)?Gymnastics floor exercises are available from all gymnastics equipment supplies such as acrobat. Anyone can buy a gymnastics floor however, prices vary depending on how big you want your floor to be. A regular competition spring floor would most probably cost around $7.00 per square foot.

G.) Show a photo/video of each form of technology in action.
In the videos below you can see the gymnast completing skills at competition that would be virtually impossible to complete if not performed on a proper gymnastics floor and with out the technology developments used in producing the floor exercise.
